Firstup’s November 2022 release brings new levels of personalization and engagement, plus a more modern, streamlined, and productive mobile experience for users.
Improve Engagement by Delivering Employees Personalized Communications
New variables allow you to add an extra touch of personalization directly into the body of your campaigns. We’re beyond excited to release this new feature to you - research shows that people are 26% more likely to engage with content that is personalized with their name.
Simply put, variables allow you to insert custom names or identifiers into your content automatically instead of entering the required text for each recipient individually. For example, if you use the {{First Name}} variable in your campaign and send it to 100 different recipients, each one of them will receive the campaign with the corresponding name on it.
These variables are supported across all Firstup channels, including Email, Push, Web, Mobile, and Microapp content.
Variables also include a customizable fallback value (for example, Hi {{Team}}) to ensure the communication makes sense in all scenarios, even if you don’t have a unique identifier for your users, or the content is displayed on a digital screen for a large group.

Modernizing the Mobile Experience
Our 4.7.0 mobile experience release is anchored in striking intuitive design, streamlined user flows, and enhanced productivity.
Through extensive customer research and UX design testing, we’ve found opportunities to increase user functionality and accessibility while also updating the user experience to feel more modern and delightful.
With this new mobile design, providing parity with the recently released web experience, you can expect an easier reading experience, more care on accessibility, clearer labels and actions (like replacing the heart icon for a thumbs up and including topic labels on the new card layout), and a more delightful overall experience for employees.
Along with a new modern design, this 4.7.0 mobile release includes the ability to bring your company’s quick links, targeted link collections, and integrations directly to the top of each employee's mobile feed, with more link options available to users and icons having a modern look and feel.
Pinning these links and integrations to the top of your mobile feed experience provides one-click shortcut access to the systems, tools, and content employees need most to be productive.
For customers on multi-tenant apps, this update will be submitted to the app stores for approval the last week of November. For branded mobile app customers, please work with your Customer Success Manager to begin scheduling your update. Please note, due to holiday delays with Apple and Google app stores, Firstup has instituted a Mobile App Moratorium, effective 12/1/2022 until 1/15/2023.

Additional Mobile Release 4.7.0 Updates
The following items are additional features included in the mobile app 4.7.0 release for both Android and iOS. Users must be on 4.7.0 or higher to be able to access these features:
- Removing the term “Org Code” for single-tenant branded apps. We recently launched QR Codes as an easy way to find your community. Located above these QR Codes is a community code, also meant to easily help you find your community. While helpful for multi-tenant apps, this does not apply for single-tenant apps.
- Simplifying navigation to org charts. Now, users will be automatically directed to a user’s org chart after clicking their profile.
- Deep link bug fixes. We’ve resolved some edge cases where deep links were not opening properly within the app.
Reminder for Web Experience upgrades: You can view the look and feel of this new web experience in COMMunity. You’ll be able to upgrade to this new modern experience as soon as you’d like and we’ll be switching all remaining communities at the end of March 2023. Work with your Customer Success team to determine the right time to upgrade.
