This article provides steps to enable Zendesk integration with your Firstup community. Refer to Zendesk Productivity Integration for an in-depth look at the functionality included.
Enable Zendesk Productivity Integration
Prerequisites
To complete these instructions, you must have:
- Access to Zendesk instance (administrator level).
- Have your Zendesk instance

.This is your company's Zendesk subdomain.
For example: https://{yoursubdomain}.zendesk.com - An active community with Firstup.
- A contract with Firstup for this premium feature.
- Be a nominated administrator by Firstup.
To establish the connection between Firstup and your Zendesk instance, Firstup requires these parameter values:
- Your
client_id
. This is your unique identifier for your oAuth client. - Your
client_secret
. This is your oAuth client secret code generated for your oAuth client.
Create oAuth Client Secret Code
Create your client_secret
to provide to Firstup support:
- Log in to Zendesk as an admin user.
- Navigate to Admin Center.
- In the left-hand panel, select Apps and Integrations.
- Under APIs, select Zendesk API.
- Select the oAuth tab and then Add oAuth client.
- Fill out the form:
- Client name - e.g. Firstup Assistant.
- Description - optional description for this integration app for the end-user.
- Company - Firstup
- Logo - Image of your choice
- Unique identifier - generated by Zendesk from Client name. This can be changed, but it has to be provided to Firstup.
- Redirect URLs:
- Select Save.
- Copy the client secret and provide this to Firstup support.
Configure Zendesk Widget
Users can create tickets directly from member experience when configuring the Zendesk widget. This integrated widget is optional. To connect this widget, create a Zendesk web widget code:
- Log in to the Zendesk admin center.
- Navigate to Channels > Classic > Web Widget. Configure all necessary settings.
- Select the Setup tab. Copy the widget code and provide this code to Firstup support who will complete the configuration.
