The Microsoft Search integration seamlessly connects the Firstup application with SharePoint and OneDrive, allowing you to search for content directly from your web or mobile experience.

This integration leverages the Microsoft Search API to provide a unified and efficient search experience, ensuring that results are tailored to each user's specific permissions. After the integration is enabled, connect your Microsoft work account and search for files, folders, pages, news, documents, and SharePoint sites that you already have permission to access.

User Access

When attempting to access a SharePoint or OneDrive file from the returned search for the first time, you need to log in to your Microsoft account to connect the integrated search. The Microsoft connection wizard appears in your member experience, and takes you through this connection process. 

Once you have logged in, the connection remains. 

User Experience

Once connected, you can search for SharePoint or OneDrive files directly in your member experience search bar. 

• Search results will appear in the order they were created.
• SharePoint search supports Keyword Query Language (KQL). For a syntax reference, see this page.

SharePoint site and subsite scoping

You can limit Microsoft search results to specific SharePoint sites and subsites. When search locations are configured, results only include content from those locations. For example, if a specific subsite is configured, content from sibling subsites and other unconfigured SharePoint locations is excluded.

Microsoft permissions continue to apply. Users only see content they already have permission to access.

SharePoint and OneDrive Search 

The following example shows a search for "Public". Microsoft is selected as the search filter, so the results shown are from the connected Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint integration. Any configured site or subsite restrictions are applied to these results.
