Firstup's Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration lets employees search and retrieve Firstup content directly within Copilot, bringing your organization's knowledge into the tools your workforce already uses every day. This article walks administrators through setting up the MCP connector as a custom app in Copilot, from configuring the app console and publishing it to your workspace, to granting access, managing actions and approvals, and understanding the end-user sign-in experience.
Prerequisites
- Admin Access: For Microsoft Copilot Studio, Maker / Author access is required in your Power Platform environment, and potentially Cloud Application Administrator roles in Microsoft Entra ID if your MCP server uses OAuth / Enterprise Entra authentication.
- Developer Mode: Microsoft requires Generative Orchestration to be enabled for your agent. Additionally, if you are developing custom connectors, you must build them within a Sandbox/Developer Environment in Power Platform rather than the Default environment.
- MCP Endpoint URL: Obtain your community-specific MCP endpoint URL from your Firstup Account Manager.
