About Firstup AI Search

Firstup AI Search is Firstup's agentic AI and semantic search capability agent. This capability works on both web and mobile and searches across Firstup content and integrations.

• Understand What You Are Asking: Goes beyond keywords to interpret the meaning behind natural-language questions like, “What are my new benefits for 2026?”
• Searches Across Systems: Instantly accesses enterprise knowledge across Firstup content and integrated platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, and Workday.
• Delivers Summarized Answers: Provides clear, concise responses instead of a list of links—often including relevant details pulled directly from source documents.
• Strong Control for Admins: Brand Super Admins can enable or disable Firstup AI Search, manage AI Overview, and choose which sources are included in AI search. This helps keep everything secure, compliant, and easy to manage.

Accessing Firstup AI Search

Firstup AI Search can be accessed via the web experience or mobile app experience. 

To access Firstup AI Search via the web experience, click the star icon in the bottom right corner of the screen:

To access Firstup AI Search via the mobile app, tap on the magnifying glass on the bottom navigation bar and then enter your query in the search box:

Note: Access to AI Search requires the latest version of the mobile app.

Searching with Firstup AI Search

Firstup AI Search offers a few prompts to get you started, or you can ask your own questions. Firstup AI Search searches across Firstup posts, topics, people, files, shortcuts, and configured integrations. Brand Super Admins can manage these elements in Configure. Firstup AI Search will not return results across disabled elements. When relevant, Firstup AI Search will also include source links in the results.

AI-Generated Overview

You can also use the search bar to ask Firstup AI Search questions. Firstup AI Search will show an AI-generated overview right on your homepage. Clicking the Copy icon will copy both the text and any links.

Source links can only be accessed via the Firstup AI Search tool. If an overview references a source, clicking Continue in Assistant will open your query in the Firstup AI Search, and you can access any source links in the tool directly.

FAQ

Can I manage which users/audiences are able to use Firstup AI Search?

Yes. Admins will be able to control who has access to both the AI Assistant and AI Search Summary via Creator Studio → Configure → AI Settings. 

Are you using our inputs to train your model?

No, we are not training our model on your inputs.

Is Firstup AI Search replacing the current Assistant?

Yes, if Firstup AI Search is enabled for your community, it will replace the legacy Assistant. If Firstup AI Search is not enabled, the legacy Assistant will remain.

Which integrations are searchable by Firstup AI Search?

Firstup AI Search can return results from any Firstup-offered integration system that you have purchased and configured. Note that in order for an integration to be searchable by AI Search, it must be enabled in AI Settings.

Does Firstup AI Search integrate with Copilot?

Currently, Firstup AI Search does not integrate directly with Copilot. However, we have developed a working prototype and are actively evaluating the best path forward, including scope, timing, and customer value.

What Insights are available for Firstup AI Search?

Insights are not a part of Phase 1. The Assistant Command Usage Report will only reflect stats for the current Assistant if you elect not to enable Firstup AI Search. Phase 2 will include work to ensure this report (or another) pulls usage stats from Firstup AI Search.

Are results tied to user permissions?

Yes, permissions control visibility of results, just like for all other member experience elements. Integration results returned will honor your integration-specific permissions.

Are search results translated?

Firstup AI Search can understand queries submitted in languages other than English. It may provide a translated summary of the results; however, it does not currently translate the original source content.

What does Firstup AI Search not search?

Firstup AI Search does not search anything within the Creator Studio-specific areas outside of the member experience.

When I search people, what information can Firstup AI Search return?

Firstup AI Search will return information tied to member experience profiles only, not Creator Studio profiles.

Which versions of the mobile app is Firstup AI Search supported on?

Firstup AI Search is supported on mobile app version 26.2.2+ for iOS and Android.

Does Firstup AI Search support translations?

Yes, translations are supported.

Will Firstup AI Search use the same icon as Assistant used?

The Assistant icon within Creator Studio configuration will temporarily not be utilized on Firstup AI Search.

Does Firstup AI Search maintain a search history?

No, Firstup AI Search does not currently maintain a search history.
