Why Clear Cache?
Caching means placing something in storage on the chance that it may come in useful later. When you visit a website, your browser takes pieces of the page and stores them on your computer's hard drive so that they will load faster and not need to be downloaded in the future.
When a site stops working correctly, sometimes clearing the cache will fix it. Issues occur because of a difference between the version of a website cached (stored) on your computer and the version that you're loading from the web. This conflict can lead to glitches, and clearing your cache can help when nothing else seems to.
Why Clear Cookies?
Cookies stored by your browser tell us whether you are signed in or not, as well as other information that it may be useful to store about actions taken while logged on.
If a user's permissions have been updated, an error occurred while logging in, or a change has been made to our application, then the data in cookies might conflict with the current session. This could give you trouble the next time you try to sign in.
Common Issues Resolved By Clearing Cache and Cookies
The following issues have been observed to be resolved by the steps below:
- Errors when signing in, especially after a recent change to Studio role and permissions.
- Reports not loading fully in Insights.
- New permissions not granting content visibility in Studio.
- 403 errors when making a change in Studio.
This list is not exhaustive, so clearing cache and cookies can often be a good solution or troubleshooting step when you are experiencing an issue or error that your colleagues are not seeing.
How to Clear Cache and Cookies
Most web browsers have their own steps to clear browser data. You can also clear cookies for a particular website or all visited websites.
WARNING: Clearing the cookies will log you out of previously-visited websites. We recommend saving your login information before following this method.
If you do not want to lose your login information on all websites, clear cookies on only addresses containing "socialchorus" and "onfirstup".
