Note: This article only applies to communities with access to the web or mobile app experience and, therefore, does not apply to Email-Only communities.
Note: Firstup language localization is available exclusively in the web and mobile app experience. Creator Studio and other Firstup services (including but not limited to Knowledge Base, API tools and training) are provided in English only.
Content Localization
Topic names and content will appear in the member experience exactly as they appear in Creator Studio. If your community has Translations enabled, content posts can be translated by individual users in the member experience. Please refer to Translatable Setting for more information.
Note: When dealing with multiple languages, AWS identifies the dominant language of the content based on a certainty percentage. This percentage indicates AWS's confidence that the suggested language matches the text. The current threshold is set at 60% certainty. If AWS is at least 60% certain about a specific language being dominant, that language will be used. If the certainty is below 60%, a dominant language cannot be detected, and users will not have the option to translate the content. For this reason, we advise against the use of mixed-language content if translation will be required. For example, translation is not guaranteed if the content combines characters (emojis,
English, and Mandarin characters).
Navigation Localization
The navigation elements of the web experience and mobile app are automatically localized to the preferred language of the user's device or browser. All features, buttons, navigation options, and settings will display in the preferred language if it is one of our Available Languages.
Note: The preferred language of a device is configured outside of our product. Directions for changing the preferred language of a device or browser vary from device to device. Example instructions (third party links):
- Change the language on your Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Change the language on Android
- Change the language on your web browser - due to the variety of browsers and operating systems, we recommend using a web search for "[browser name] [operating system] preferred language" to find appropriate instructions
Below you'll find an example of our navigation localization for an iOS device set to Spanish:
