Improve engagement by delivering employees more personalized communications! Any Creator Studio user can add personalization attributes to rich text blocks in the body of your campaigns, and they are supported across all Firstup channels: email, push, web and mobile experiences, and microapps.
This article will walk you through adding personalization attributes to your rich text blocks. For details on personalizing campaigns with custom attributes specific to each campaign, check out Personalized Fields. Brand Super Admins can manage which attributes are available to users in Field Management.
How to Add Personalization Attributes
- Sign in to Creator Studio.
- Click Create.
- You can start with a blank campaign, choose a template to edit, or add a content block that contains rich text to an existing campaign.
- For this example, we'll start with a template that contains a rich text block.
- Click inside the rich text block where you want to add the attribute, and then select the Variables icon ({ }) from the menu that appears.
- From the User Attributes drop-down menu, select an attribute from the list of user attributes available for your community.
- Click on the attribute to edit the default value. The default value is what will be displayed instead of the system value if:
- The recipient/viewer does not have a stored value for the attribute
OR - The viewer is not logged in (i.e. public microapps or shareable articles viewed from a public link)
- The recipient/viewer does not have a stored value for the attribute
- Clicking on Preview will give you the option to preview the campaign with Default Values, as Self, or as an Audience Member.
Note: Only Brand Super Admins, Community Admins, or custom roles with permission to view audiences and users in the community will be able to preview as audience members. Restricted system roles, as well as restricted custom roles, will be limited to previewing as audience members in their assigned audiences ONLY.
