Advanced Translations allow you to automatically translate and republish content from one topic or community to another within Cross-Community Content Management.
Unlike the basic Content Translation Setting, Advanced Translations are workflows that duplicate a post, translate it, and publish it to a targeted topic in the specified language.
For example, it takes an original post, translates it into several languages (pre-specified in the workflow stage), and reposts the same post in multiple languages to specified targeted topics, such as other regions or countries.
Alternatively, it publishes the original post in multiple languages to different communities.
As Advanced Translations are hardcoded, the following limitations apply:
- Not dynamic: You must define the source and target language pairs in the workflow.
- Not applicable to emails: Advanced Translations only apply to posts and articles.
- No retroactive translations: Enabling the setting after a post is published won’t trigger translation.
- Editing: Updates to the original post don’t automatically sync to translated versions; you must republish or rerun the workflow.
Before You Start
- Always confirm the Content Translation Setting is enabled before publishing.
- Verify that target channels exist and are configured for the correct languages.
- Review translated content for accuracy, especially for brand names, tone, and localized terminology.
- Use consistent workflow naming conventions
How Advanced Translations Work
Advanced translations work similarly to our CCCM (Cross Community Content Management):
- The post is published (see Publish to Multiple Communities with Cross Community Content Management for details).
- The source post is duplicated.
- The text content is translated.
- The translated version is published as a new post in the target channel and language.
Each workflow is hardcoded using its source and destination languages. Advanced Translations do not detect language automatically.
