Note: Uploading and managing custom fonts is currently only available for Core+ tier customers, however, they are not yet supported in Email-Only. Reach out to your CSM if you have any questions.
Custom fonts allow you to brand your campaigns according to your unique brand image.
Community Admins and Brand Super Admins can access the font list page and create, edit, and archive fonts, while all users with publishing access can use the fonts when creating and editing a campaign in Compose. These permissions can also be toggled on for custom roles.
There is no limit to the number of fonts that can be uploaded and stored in the library.
Note: Fonts only apply to the “full view” of campaign content. They are not applied to navigational elements of the member experience, content cards, etc.
Upload a Custom Font
- Sign in to Studio.
- Navigate to Library > Fonts.
- Click the + Add a new font button.
-
Add a new font:
-
Font name - Give the font a name. This could be the name of the actual font, or a descriptive name to guide where the font should be used in campaigns, i.e. Title font. The font name will appear on the font list page, as well as the Compose page.
-
Fallback font - Select a fallback font to use in email and in other scenarios where a custom font will not render.
Note: Custom fonts are not supported on most email clients, and may not render in other situations, such as certain operating systems. Fallback fonts are "web safe" fonts - the most reliable set of fonts that will generally render on any OS, email client, browser, etc.
-
Font variants - Upload your font (.woff, .ttf, or .otf).
Up to 4 font variants are supported. Variants are used when applying bold or italic styles to highlighted text within the editor.
Supported options:- Weight: Normal (400) or Bold (700)
- Style: Regular or Italic
These options create up to 4 variations:
- Normal, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic
-
Font name - Give the font a name. This could be the name of the actual font, or a descriptive name to guide where the font should be used in campaigns, i.e. Title font. The font name will appear on the font list page, as well as the Compose page.
- Save the font to add it to the font library.
Apply a Custom Font
Compose will show the active list of fonts (those which are not archived). Your custom font can be selected for any text style throughout the style sidebar, and the editing canvas will reflect the selected font.
Font Rendering
The following fonts will work across all email clients:
- Arial
- Verdana
- Georgia
- Times New Roman
- Courier
And these email clients support web fonts:
- iOS Mail
- Apple Mail
- Android (default mail client, not Gmail app)
- Outlook 2000
- Outlook.com app
- Thunderbird
However, many common email clients do not support web fonts. Users on those clients will see the selected fallback font. For example, in the case of Open Sans, the fallback font is Arial.

Manage Fonts
Only Community Admins and Brand Super Admins can edit custom fonts and archive all fonts.
Archived fonts will be filtered out of the list page by default but can be viewed using the status filter. Both custom and standard (Firstup-provided) fonts can be archived. Archived fonts are no longer available for selection in Compose, but will not be removed from existing campaigns.
